Ootoya distinguish itself as an authentic home cooking Japanese restaurant has been placed in Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta. Ootoya is a chain restaurant from Japan with an experienced over than 50 years.
I found out this restaurant through my friend's instagram who had eaten here and posted her food photo. She also put her comment on her photo if she was keen to return. And what I know about Japanese food is "calories friendly", so I was in!
When I came in, the waitress greeted us warmly. Menu and hot towel were delivered to us with a full of warm smile. For the ambience of the restaurant is really nice, the decor is Japanese modern traditional but It can get loud during the peak hour because there were so many family whose bring their children and full of teenagers made the restaurant kinda noisy. But the service is good, we didn't need to ask to refill our green tea. The waitress keep filled our green tea even we had already paid our check.
Regarding the menu, the variation is quite extensive and full pages good looking food photos which made my appetite grew mightier.However sadly there are foods which are not available anymore, like natto and some kinds of fish. So I looked at the menu and many times I changed my mind until I chose Shima Hokke set, Grilled Atka Mackerel. Our meal included rice, miso soup, radish or 'daikon' as a garnish, stir fried carrot and burdock root.

And Tori Kurozu, Fried chicken and vegetables served with sweet and sour vinegar sauce.
